At the end of a long day of teaching, I headed over for my squamous surgery. (The day was especially long because my back is so tight and sore from all of the sutures still in the melanoma incision.)
I was especially nervous today because, while showering last night, I discovered a small lump/bump in my groin area. I ran for the mirror and, sure enough, there was something strange “down there.” I had my husband take a look, just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. There was a very distinct, palpable, deep purple little mass. Holy shit! I immedidately thought that it was another melanoma. I was petrified.
Dr Jay checked me as soon as she walked into the room. She could see I was totally freaked about it. All is well. There is definitely something there, but it’s a benign cyst and she said not to worry at all. I was so relieved.
The surgery on my right calf was quick. The squamous was still “in situ” so she did not have to go deep. The one on my neck was very invasive. She had to go quite deep to get it all. The path report will let us know if she was successful. I have a nice row of sutures and look a bit like Frankenstein right now.
I’m off to watch The Lakers destroy San Antonio!

I was just looking on the members list and found that you are not to far from where my daughter lives, she is in Lakewood CA.
I know you have been here for a while, so I wanted to jump in and say hi!
